Interactive Stuttering Series #1

You are probably watching the video right now, or just reading this.

So the question is....

Do you remember what age/grade you were in when you noticed that you stuttered or didn't talk like everyone else? Do you remember what situation it was?

My answer is...

I think every stutterer can answer this question. I was in 2nd grade (so maybe 7 years old). Remember in elementary school, where the teacher would have the students read a paragraph each of a story, or of a page. Well I was reading, and realized some of the other students was helping me. That's when I realized "hey, I don't talk like everyone else". But I never got picked on, well to my face at least. I had a lot of friends until I switched schools to a private school. I think that's when I started isolating myself and being shy. I wasn't shy until I was accepted as the normal rich kid private school student. It was never because of my stuttering. I don't kjnow what the other kids were doing behind my back, and guess what I don't care. :D

I think my stutter is now a blessing. I get to do youtube videos and let other stutterers realize they are not alone. I was alone for the longest time b/c I knew of no one that stuttered, until I met Mitch. and no he isn't my husband. He was my college professor that stuttered. I got the courage to make videos on YouTube, and to me that's the best decision I have made. Well, I would write more, but I have a screaming kid in my ear.

I want to hear other experiences and stories from my viewers. GIMME!!! :D

  1. Hey, I honsetly don't think it was an elemantary school because I was extermely shy and didn't talk much. There was this time in 1'st or 2'nd grade where the teacher would ask kids to go up and read words from a list, seeing if they knew the word. I rmember knowing the word but not being able to say it. In fifth grade when I was 10 ,I think that is when I noticed it the most. I had to give a presentation and the two other girls in my group went and then I went amd I was stuttering. I was really and embrassed cause my mom was there. At the end of the day the teacher went up the girls in my class and yelled at them out in the hall, saying why did you make bethany nervous, what did you do. I only know that cause they told me recently. In fifth grade I also went back to speech thearpy, I went when I was really little, I felt different, why do I have to go. my brother was only 9 but he would make fun of me. another quick thing again, when I was in fifth grade I was taking to my friends not caring how I talked, (I don't thnik secondaries cam in yet),and this new girl asked me why I talked like piglet.
